Our holiday farm

Family vacation in a dream location

Our holiday farm is a real family paradise in eastern Carinthia at 1250 meters above sea level.

The free, sunny location offers a wonderful view of the harmonious mountain landscape of the Koralpen massif.

The fantastic panoramic view over the Lavanttal leads to the southernmost mountain range in Austria,

the Karawanken in the Alpe-Adria region.

With us you enjoy the quiet, secluded location on the mountain. Great destinations in Carinthia and Styria are easily accessible from us. We are right in the middle between Klagenfurt and Graz.

The beautiful district town of Wolfsberg is 12 kilometers away.

REAL Carinthian mountain farm

We manage our farm actively and close to nature. At any time of the year you can experience with us what it means to work with animals and in nature and to live in the countryside. We run the suckler cow husbandry, horse husbandry, grassland and forestry sectors with great passion. The mini pigs, pygmy goats, Cameroon sheep, rabbits, chickens, ducks, cats and our farm dog Luna are particularly important to us. With our small animals, we can let even the smallest guests participate in what is happening on the farm, for example feeding the rabbits or collecting eggs. This is a real holiday adventure for your children and they also learn how to deal with animals responsibly and safely.

About Us

The Zarfl & Lichtenegger family

Your hosts - close to nature, diverse, cordial

The farm with the vulgo name Juri has been managed by our family for many generations. In 1974, the farmers decided that Franz Sr. & Johanna Zarfl to turn their hospitality into a profession and start renting rooms on the farm. We, Franz & Barbara Zarfl, have been continuing this passion for more than 30 years. This job is a vocation, and so we appreciate the combination of down-to-earthness through working in agriculture and the constant ability to think outside the box, which our guests enable us to do.

With our daughter Elisabeth, son-in-law Bernhard and the two grandchildren Fabian & Klara, the next generation of hosts is already involved in our family business. With many new ideas, they bring a "fresh breeze" to our farm life. A family reunion with all 3 daughters and their families is like looking at the diversity of our company. Everyone is unique and brings their story with them. Everyone uses their strengths for their way into the future, without forgetting their roots. It is our passion to let you, as a guest of our house, participate in the diversity and closeness to nature of our country life. Come to us, slow down from everyday life, recharge your batteries in the beautiful East Carinthian mountain landscape and experience real adventures in the living environment of the farm. Sustainability on vacation

For the sake of nature!

Waste separation has been a matter of course for us for decades. We separate glass, metal, plastic, paper, organic waste and residual waste. To make this easy for our guests to do, there is a separate garbage room with precise labeling and description of the materials to be separated.

Photovoltaic system & e-charging stations

Since December 2021 we have been generating green electricity with photovoltaic systems on the stable roof. With two e-charging stations for electric cars in the courtyard car park, we offer our guests the opportunity to charge their e-cars with green electricity (for a fee).

Ecological heating

The buildings on the farm and the hot water are heated by our own wood chip heating system. Only wood from our own forest is used for this purpose. When harvesting the wood, we pay attention to a particularly resource-saving management of the forest.

Own source of drinking water

Water does not have to be bought from us in expensive, environmentally harmful plastic bottles. Enjoy our fresh mountain spring water from the tap. This has the best drinking water quality and is constantly checked in the laboratory

change of towels

We provide our guests with an initial set of shower and hand towels. In order to protect the environment, we only offer a free linen change for stays of 7 nights or more. If you still need additional shower and hand towels, you can get them from us for a fee.

Own and regional food

For the catering of our guests, we pay particular attention to using food from the farm or from the region. (e.g. from the farm: beef, fish, eggs, jam, herbs, salad; from the region: rolls from the local baker, vegetables, meat and milk from Carinthian farmers and so on)

Fully biological sewage treatment plant

All of the waste water goes into a fully biologically functioning activated sludge plant on the farm. The degradation of the pollutants is carried out by microorganisms - without the use of toxic additives. The bacteria only need oxygen to be able to work actively. What remains is cleaned service water, which is allowed to seep into the ground, and sewage sludge, which is spread on the fields as a valuable plant fertilizer.
